Role Description

​

We are looking to add an experienced P401 Qualified Asbestos Laboratory Analyst to our current team. The role will initially be based in our Whitburn lab with a view of moving to the Glasgow / Lanarkshire area once lab has been finalised. This is a full-time role but part time flexible work will be considered.

 

The Asbestos Bulk Analyst will be responsible for analysing and identifying asbestos-containing materials within building materials and producing accurate reports to clients. All analysis and reporting will be carried out to meet the requirements of ISO:17025 along with Lab 30 and HSG 248. The Analyst should be able to work effectively alongside surveyors and clients, be reliable and willing to undertake other tasks to suit business needs including admin and assisting on surveys.

 

Qualifications / Skills

  • BOHS P401 qualification in Asbestos Identification or equivalent

  • Proven record of good score in AIMS

  • Preferably a minimum of 1-year experience working in a UKAS accredited laboratory as a qualified asbestos bulk analysis

  • Proficient in the use of a microscope for asbestos fiber counting and identification

  • Good knowledge of HSE asbestos guidance, regulations, and standards

  • The candidate should be computer literate with Office 365, Microsoft Word and Excel experience

  • The candidate must possess good attention to detail, communication skills (both written and verbally) with the ability to manage and organise their own workload effectively

  • Follow health and safety guidance within laboratory

  • Retake periodic refresher training

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Trainee position may be considered for the right candidate.

 

What We Can Offer You

  • A negotiable full time annual salary starting from £25,500 - £28,000 based on industry experience and qualifications. This is subject to yearly review.

  • Flexible working hours available (part time/full time will be pro rata pay)

  • 28 days holiday with additional Bank Holidays as per Scottish Government Website.

Admin Assistant

This is a hybrid role and can involve working from home, office and sometimes may involve site work.

 

Responsibilities

The role will involve supporting asbestos consultants with administrative tasks including:

Data entry on multiple asbestos database / surveying software
Booking in jobs from telephone / email / web enquiries
Booking in / scheduling work on shared calendar
Provide ad hoc support around office as needed


Initially the role will be zero hours and will be flexible, working from home with some in office based tasks required for example, training, printing, booking in asbestos samples etc.
